As a

Mapping and Data Analyst , you’ll be an integral part of our team, contributing to the region’s growth and development by leveraging your technical expertise. Data driven decision-making is central to GPCOG’s mission. You’ll work closely with directors, managers, and staff on a wide range of projects to inform decisions about housing, transportation, economic development, broadband, sustainability, and equity, among other potential focus areas.If you want to support shared, sustainable prosperity in the Greater Portland, Maine region and have a knack for making maps, crunching numbers, and distilling complex information into visually appealing and accessible documents, graphics, and web pages then we want you as part of our team!What You’ll Do

GIS and Data Visualizations:

Create high quality maps, data dashboards, infographics, technical reports, memos, and other tools and visuals to support GPCOG’s many planning initiatives and programs.Data Management:

Organize, collect, maintain, and update large datasets and regional GIS layers.Software Tools:

Work with specialized software, such as Streetlight Insights, Placer AI, Remix, MySidewalk to perform analyses, generate reports, and create data visualizations.Website Support:

Maintain project-specific websites, update web pages, upload documents, and coordinate domains.Community Engagement:

Participate in community engagement activities by providing maps and materials, presenting information, and interacting with community members during public meetings, workshops, and other outreach events.Contract Work:

Perform mapping, data, and related contract work with municipalities.What You Bring

At least one year of relevant professional experience in GIS and data management.Proficiency in ArcGIS Online and ArcPro software and tools.Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Illustrator).Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and data visualization tools with the ability to analyze and synthesize large datasets to provide meaningful insights.Experience with website maintenance and development using tools such as Wix or SquareSpace.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.Ability to work effectively as part of one or more teams.Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.Additional Information• This position reports to the Data Manager.• Driving, occasional travel, and extended hours are required.• GPCOG offers competitive benefits, a dynamic and creative work environment, and a salary ranging from the mid-forties to low fifties annually, based on qualifications and experience, with potential for performance-based adjustments.• People of color, people with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.How to Apply
