Asset ManagerReports to:Vice President of Asset ManagementLocation:Ideally in Houston, TX with flexibility to be Remote in the US.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience managing the commercial, financial, and operational aspects of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects in a dynamic Independent Power Producer (IPP). This position is based in Houston TX, with periodic travel to project sites and other company offices.Our client is a rapidly growing, well-funded, and employee-centric independent power production (“IPP”) company pursuing an aggressive project development and construction program. That program is underpinning the company’s rapid growth into a large long-term owner and operator of renewable energy and storage assets, and was the basis for the establishment of an asset management and operations group to manage these projects. Their focus is on large and high-profile projects with well-known off takers, affording the successful candidate an opportunity for professionally enriching work.While this Asset Management role will be primarily focused on post construction operations and commercial management, our client is structured such that employees work across renewable projects’ lifecycles. In this regard, the successful candidate will also support development, procurement and construction groups and thus, be afforded the opportunity for professional growth on a variety of fronts beyond traditional utility-scale renewable power generation asset management.Responsibilities:

Maintain thorough on-going awareness of technical, commercial and financial issues related to assigned projects including appropriately timed visits to the projects.

Track key project metrics to ensure projects achieve optimal financial and operational performance, including by working closely with operations, accounting, finance and other personnel to resolve emergent issues.

Work with other groups as needed, including (i) development, (ii) project execution (i.e., procurement and construction), (iii) accounting and treasury, (iv) legal, and (v) finance. In particular, work with the development team to finalize land leases, automate the calculation of payments, and implement payment processes.

Develop detailed understanding of project contracts and agreements including those related to operations, regulatory compliance, energy management, asset management, financing, property taxes, insurance, etc. Track and perform reporting and other tasks required by these contracts. Participate in or lead periodic negotiations of amendments to these contracts, working with legal, finance, and other groups as needed.

Organize and implement project annual operating budgets and business plans that meet objectives, and subsequently work with accounting and operations teams to track financial and operational variances.

Oversee the work of various service providers, including operators of wind and solar projects, energy managers, and other long- and short-term consultants, to ensure work product and performance meet contractual requirements.

Support efforts to maximize project profitability, including through involvement in the implementation of optimization/trading strategies available in various Independent System Operator market structures.

Participate in due diligence exercises on renewable generation assets to support M&A strategy: o Review contracts, operational history, safety metrics o Participate in site visits o Draft diligence reports identifying issues that would impact evaluation of an asset.

Create Excel models for various purposes, including budgeting, invoices and financial analysis of various project opportunities.

Ad hoc duties as required Estimated travel for this role is 10%.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience managing utility-scale renewable energy assets

Prior experience working for an Independent Power Producer

Knowledge of the requirements of operating renewable energy assets in more than one RTO

Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Business, Engineering, or Economics. Master’s degree in relevant field (e.g., engineering, finance, economics) is a plus

Fluency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Power Point, and SharePoint

Experience with Power BI and Python programming is a plus

Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.
