DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

The Director of Operations is responsible for directing and managing plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, service, and other production-related activities. Leading negotiations, budgeting, purchasing, and putting efficient workflows in place to maximize STE's productivity and performance. Must develop long-term operational strategies, working closely with senior management to meet company objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Establishes in conjunction with the Executive Team quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which STE's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated.

Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures following STE’s Quality Management System.

Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.

Ensures adherence prescribed by procedures to ensure first pass quality meets or exceeds planned goals.

Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.

Ensures implementation and evolution of the safety program, implementing 6S standard.

Oversees manufacturing, maintenance, and service functions, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadership.

Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.

Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to manufacturing personnel; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.

Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, supply chain, sales, support functions, and customer service functions to produce an effective front-to-back process flow and cost-effective business processes.

Implements cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, and wages.

Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards in compliance with ASME, ISO9000, CIP, QMS and/or any other regulatory requirements.

Prevents the use of labor overtime and production rework.

Proactively manages Standard Total Preventive Maintenance program and repair cost.

Provides leadership, development, and training to production supervisors, direct reports, and subordinates to accomplish STE goals and objectives.

Ensures coaching and development of resources to meet business’s objectives through the execution of training program.

Ensures planned KPI’s of efficiency and performance are met and/or exceeded.

Implements and drives continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices, following a Strategy Deployment and 80/20 approach.

Implements lean manufacturing initiatives.

Acts as liaison between production floor and internal and external customers, e.g., suppliers, managers, customers, etc.

Optimizes resource utilization by implementation of an effective production organization.

Manages, selects, trains, and mentors operation’s personnel.

Problem solves and communicates effectively with work team.

Contributes ideas for continuous improvement of workflow and processes.

Follows all safety guidelines and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree, engineering preferred, and 10+ years of plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment; master's degree preferred.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet, MRP systems, and other resources.

Management/supervision experience.

Proven track record in managing production.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify, and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.

Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills; interpersonal, leadership, and technical skills.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Professionalism, superior managerial skills, and a positive attitude are a must.

Self-motivated, self-starter.

Ability to use all extremities to efficiently operate manual tools and power tools.

Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all-weather conditions.

Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.

Safety glasses, steel toe/non-slip safety shoes/boots and hearing protection are required at all times and for all areas of the production floor. STE is a drug and alcohol-free work environment.
