sweetgreen is seeking a talented and experienced leasing attorney to join our growing legal team. As a
Senior Counsel, Leasing , you'll play a vital role in supporting sweetgreen in all aspects of real estate transactions, including the negotiation of lease transactions, developing legal strategies, and advising on general real estate portfolio management matters. The ideal candidate will have proven success as a leasing attorney and the ability to successfully work independently yet also thrive in a team-oriented environment.
You WillOversee the legal leasing portfolio in collaboration with the real estate teamDraft, review, and negotiate complex retail leases and ancillary lease documents, lease amendments, construction contracts, waivers, subordination agreements, estoppels, termination agreements, and other real estate documentsPrepare legal notices, partner with cross-functional team to resolve landlord disputes, and identify and hire litigation counsel, as necessaryReview and analyze existing agreements to assist management with proper operation of assets and risk assessment of various courses of actionCommunicate and coordinate effectively with store development, operations, finance, and other cross-functional team membersReview and analyze letters of intent for new lease deals and lease modificationDevelop policies, trainings, templates and processesAssist with deal tracking and project managementMaintain abstracts, lease summary charts, and lease formEffectively negotiate resolution of claimsManage outside counsel and outside counsel legal budgets
QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to CA State BarMinimum of 7 years of experience in retail leasingTeam player with excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAble to translate legal complexities into business-oriented solutionsFlexible, well-organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range For This RoleStarting salary range based on experience: $150,000—$200,000 USD
