Department: Road and Bridge FLSA: Non-Exempt 36 Hour Work Week Monday - Thursday
DEFINITION OF WORK
The Truck Driver - Construction Crew is a safety sensitive position exercising a high degree of discretion, trust and confidence operating County vehicles in the heavy equipment classification including hauling material and equipment to maintain County roads. This position requires initiative, ability and willingness to work a majority of the time without direct supervision. Persons in this position use independent discretion and judgment within established organization policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates various types of CDL vehiclesPerforms snow removal operationsCollects debris along county roadsMakes continuous judgements on safety, capacity of equipment and plowing precautionsReports for off duty work for emergency operations for public health, safety and welfarePerforms minor maintenance of equipment to include daily inspectionsMay assist in other areas of Road and Bridge that includes:Performs other duties as required or assignedMoving equipmentAsphalt pot hole patching, crack-sealing and 'brooming'Cattle guard install, cleaning and repairCulvert install, cleaning and repairFence install or repairFlagging/traffic controlSign install or repairWash, clean, grease and service equipmentHelp in shop, run partsAll aspects of snow removalSet up and tear down snow equipmentDitch mowing, weed spraying, seeding, erosion control and cleaningTree removal and trimmingRequirements
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS
High School DiplomaGenerally a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of responsible roadway maintenance experience;Valid State of Colorado Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement and with acceptable motor vehicle record;Must receive acceptable background check;This is a safety sensitive position that may be subject to random drug testing.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and involves on-call duty which requires working some weekends and holidays. Travel by vehicle is required to reach work sites. The incumbent is exposed to the following environmental factors: year-round outdoor weather conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; work in or near moving traffic, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
