Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.May administer grants and grant-related communications, scholarships and other operations.Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.May serve as property custodian for the department.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.The Cougar Cupboard Program Manager II

is a part of the Center for Student Advocacy and Community team and is the primary point person for the management of the day-to-day operations of the University’s food cupboard with a special focus on ensuring that all safe food handling procedures are maintained, all service areas are clean, and service to cupboard clients is delivered in a dignified and compassionate manner. Additionally, the Cougar Cupboard Program Manager will work to develop the health and well-being focus of the cupboard through cupboard design and nutrition education activities. Alongside staff and volunteers, this position will provide direct services to all clients and visitors to the cupboard while ensuring all agency policies and procedures are adhered to.The successful candidate will be highly organized, show attention to detail, and proactively manage all service components in an efficient way. Flexibility and a desire to serve are essential. Successful candidates will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of advocacy and community engagement principles and practices. Strong candidates will embrace a student-centered philosophy and the ability to work with a diverse student population.Principal Duties

Manages the day-to-day operations, orders and schedules food delivery, performs inventory of food (both perishable and non-perishable) on a weekly basis; keeps cupboard clean and orderly at all times, ensures all food safety procedures are followed and in place; manages cupboard budget.Service Development with a focus on increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables along with providing educational opportunities for increasing healthy food choices and workshops. May assist with new user intake as needed; be familiar with and able to provide information to clients and visitors on Houston Food Bank Food for Change network site and food scholarship process.Supervision and volunteer management - Assist with training and scheduling volunteers working in the cupboard; ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and cupboard operations are consistent for all clients served.High-level relationship development and management – Manager will network and provide support to a wide variety of stakeholders, including, but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, university administration, alumni, donors/sponsors, local agencies, and non-profit organizations.Manage communication with supervisor to ensure client services are delivered according to best practices and agency standards.Shifts may include day, evening, and weekend hours. Program Manager is expected to work their scheduled shift, arrive on time, and be responsible for monitoring appropriate use of time.Other duties as assigned.May Be Eligible for Alternative Workplace Arrangements .Qualifications

Bachelors and 1 year experience.Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.Certification/Licensing: None.Additional Job Posting Information:- Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.- Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.May Be Eligible for Alternative Workplace Arrangements .Salary:
