Supplier Quality Engineer

for our team in Duncan, SC. As a part of the Quality Organization, this individual will develop and sustain a supplier quality strategy and performance monitoring program. The purpose of the SQE is to coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, engineering and purchasing to integrate sound quality management policies throughout the Supply Chain. The SQE will execute projects to maximize value by improving the quality of raw materials that are purchased and used in manufacturing. The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for conducting supplier audits, monitoring the performance of current suppliers, and issuing and monitoring Supplier Corrective and Preventive Action plans and activities to closure including objective evidence of effectiveness.ResponsibilitiesSupplier Assessment and Qualification:Perform audits of potential supplier’s quality systems and manufacturing processes to assess their ability to consistently provide material that meets AFL requirements and specifications.Develop objective criteria for acceptance of supplier, including development of material specifications.Measure and Monitor Supplier Performance:Track supplier performance and identify concerns by monitoring in-process and customer (external) quality issues.Establish and execute procedures and control plans to monitor the quality of supplied material, including periodic inspection and testing as required.Analyze and monitor supplier provided data, certificates of analysis, etc. and validate results to confirmProvide regular input to supplier scorecardsDrive prompt resolution of supplier quality issues that affect AFL production and delivery capabilities.Monitor responses to supplier corrective action requests to ensure timeliness and adequacy of responses.Identify, based upon internal and external performance issues, candidates for more in-depth supplier corrective and preventive actions and oversee status/progress of these actions.Quality System/ISO:Perform internal audits of the quality system.Maintain and improve quality system documentation, records, and processes to meet ISO, customer and internal requirements.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical fieldDemonstrated skill in implementation of six sigma principles, practices and techniques for maximum cost reduction and profit improvement. Six Sigma certification preferred.A minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering.Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification preferred.Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.The position requires an ability to collaborate and communicate with cross-functional personnel.Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. Minitab).Strong interpersonal and communication (listening, verbal, and written) skills; comfortable presenting information in a team setting; able to interact at all levels of the organization.Solid organizational and project-management skills with the ability to monitor progress, mitigate problems/delays, and drive accountability.Bias towards action and results in order to achieve goals.Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%.Self-directed with little need for direct oversight on a continuous basis.A history of leading and supporting successful projects.Results oriented, with a keen awareness of the financial and commercial impact of actions.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
