Our Legal team is on the front line of all legal matters impacting KinderCare and partners with business partners across 42 states. They respond to emergency situations requiring legal analysis, sound legal advice, and thoughtful ways of handling risk.

As a Corporate Counsel at KinderCare, you will join a small but mighty and effective legal team. We are looking for someone who is fast-thinking and responsive as they advise on corporate law, negotiate asset purchases, and review lease agreements all while balancing legal risk with business needs. We are looking for a forward-thinking corporate lawyer who will become deeply ingrained in our business and assist with growing our business in a strategic and deliberate way.

Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice to internal clients on a variety of issues that potentially expose the company to liability or that otherwise require legal analysis and support.

Appropriately handle corporate matters as assigned, including a wide variety of negotiations related to asset purchases, and support general asset management and new development projects.

Attend meetings with internal partners and develop and conduct training for law-related topics.

Stay abreast of laws, craft policies, practices, and procedures, and advise on matters and M&A practices.

Use research tools and databases to research state-specific corporate laws and produce tools and surveys for internal non-legal departments.

Navigate and find solutions to complex legal challenges using problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice with at least one State Bar, in good standing: preference for license to practice in Oregon.

6 + years of experience practicing law with a law firm or in-house legal team.

Strong writing, presentation, legal research, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interpret and apply a sophisticated knowledge of corporate transactional law to relevant business practices.

Demonstrated ability to independently handle a diverse and complex workload and meet deadlines, while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues.

Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, and innovative thinking.

Unquestionable integrity and ethics in business.

Strong attention to detail and collaboration skills.
