GWUL has touched more than three million lives since 1938, guiding them down the road to self-sufficiency.The Greater Washington Urban League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit civil rights and community-based organization. It is a member agency of the United Way of the National Capital Area and among the largest of over 80 National Urban League affiliates in the United States. GWUL is a HUD certified agency and employs staff that are certified financial counsellors. GWUL will continue to advance racial equity as a mechanism to achieve equality while also fueling the acceleration of economic self-reliance, political parity, and physical and mental wellness.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning and Analysis:

Develop and implement financial strategies and plans to support the company’s objectives.Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular forecasts to ensure financial targets are met.Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment.Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.

Financial Controls:

Establish and maintain robust financial controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.Oversee internal audit processes and implement improvements based on findings.Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.Develop and enforce policies and procedures to enhance financial governance and risk management.

Operational Efficiency:

Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and investment activities.Optimize financial operations through process improvements and technology enhancements.Coordinate with various departments to ensure financial alignment and support for operational goals.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team’s skills and knowledge remain current.Collaborate with other directors and department heads to drive strategic initiatives and business performance.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Strong knowledge of financial planning, analysis, and controls.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Proven experience in developing and implementing financial strategies and controls.Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Proficiency in financial software and systems, with advanced Excel skills.Key CompetenciesStrategic thinking and planningFinancial acumen and expertiseLeadership and team managementAttention to detail and accuracyStrong ethical standards and integrityExcellent interpersonal and collaboration skillsHow To ApplyGWUL has retained Impact Search Advisors by Nonprofit HR as their Executive Search Partner for this important hire.
