Job Title: Senior Virtualization Engineer
Responsibilities of the Senior Virtualization Engineer At EDC Consulting LLC (EDC), we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Virtualization Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is designed for a professional specializing in virtualization technologies, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) for Army enterprise and tactical applications.
The Senior Virtualization Engineer will: Work with engineers to develop and maintain the architecture. Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products. Utilize IaC for the provisioning of customer enclaves as applications are hosted on the solution. •Provide daily administration of the VMware products, including patching and upgrading all VMware components. Monitor utilization of all virtualization resources and notify the lead when additional resources are required. Harden VMware products per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls. Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of any hosting platform issues. Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures). Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents. Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree with 10+ years of experience or Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of experience. Senior-level experience with the VMware suite of products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu). Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack - network, storage, server, and applications. Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Advanced Professional (VCAP), or Design Expert (VCDX) certification.
