Project Safety Manager

to support our upcoming project at

Eareckson Air Station, Alaska.

This project is projected to begin in 2025.

Gilbane is seeking a Project Safety Manager to administer the safety program and serve as safety advisor, ensuring safety compliance by the project team and all employees and subcontractors working at the site. This role will sit primarily on the job site, with occasional travel to the office for training, meetings, etc.

Responsibilities

Support all safety efforts on the project and promote the

Gilbane Cares

safety culture.

Ensure contractor activities are preplanned for safety through scope review, preconstruction meetings, three phases of CQM meeting, AHA review, PTPs, etc.

Ensure contractors meet Gilbane safety submittal requirements.

Maintain all safety-related documentation.

Ensure contractor compliance with Gilbane safety plan, contract safety requirements & expectations.

Make recommendations concerning situations hazardous to employee safety or health.

Utilize SafetyNet to audit and monitor project team implementation of the Safety Plan.

Perform at least 15 SafetyNet inspections/month with at least 100 observations each inspection.

Coach project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues using SafetyNet.

Review SafetyNet trending reports with project team.

Provide safety training to project teams on Gilbane, client, EM385-1-1 & OSHA requirements.

Investigate all accidents/near misses and complete all paperwork required.

Serve as project liaison and manage project correspondence with insurance carriers.

Ensure project teams have safety equipment and resources.

QualificationsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

BCSP credential.

College-level courses in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering or equivalent.

5 years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/managing general construction (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls).

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OSHA 30 hours construction.

EM385-1-1 40 hour training.

8 hours of documented formal, online, or self-study safety and health-related coursework in the past 5 years. Examples of continuing education activities that meet this requirement are: writing an article, teaching a class, reading/writing professional articles, attendance/participation in professional societies/meetings, etc.

Competent Person Training - Fall Protection, Excavation, Scaffolding, Confined Spaces, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proficient knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques, and methods.

Practical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations, and policies.

Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective action.

Proficient computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite.

Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Developed management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
