The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a team member on site as Fluid Dynamicist supporting Acoustics Technology Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, West Bethesda. Duties include, but are not limited to:Research and study high Reynolds number, impressible flow field that leads to generation of underwater soundResearch CFD modeling on large and detached eddy simulations of external flow turbulent boundary layers and internal flows with complex geometriesInvestigate and develop unsteady fluid structure interaction and multi-phase flow simulationCollaborate with physical experiments performed at wind/water tunnels and scaled ship prototypes to validate numerical hydroacoustics modelsProduce technical documents and reports.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or PhysicsPhD degree preferred3-5 years of research experience desiredJob experience in the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus.SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

Understanding of high Reynolds number turbulent flows and fluid structure interactionKnowledge of CFD modeling and simulation tools and processKnowledge of acoustics measurement systemKnowledge of advanced signal processingAble to effectively communicate orally and in writingAble to travel to naval research and development facilities.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
