Two Postdoctoral Positions - UC Davis School of Medicine

UC Davis Sch Med, Sacramento, California, United States, 95828

The laboratory of Fuzheng Guo, PhD at UC Davis School of Medicine and the Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine (IPRM) of Shriners Hospitals for Children, Sacramento CA, is seeking two highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers funded by NIH and foundation grants in the lab: one electrophysiologist and one molecular and cellular neurobiologist.

Research interests in the Guo lab are centered on pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutics of brain white matter injury, including inherited (for instance, leukodystrophy) and acquired (neonatal hypoxia/ischemia and adult-onset multiple sclerosis) neurological disorders. The lab focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of glial cell development, injury, and regeneration in the central nervous system, with a particular focus on the role of glial cells in regulating CNS myelination, demyelination, and remyelination in demyelinating disorders. The postdoctoral researchers will be recruited to conduct research projects that align with the laboratory interests. Please visit the lab page

for details.

We seek highly self-motivated and creative researchers, particularly those who are newly graduated. Successful applicants must have first-authored peer-reviewed publications. Applicants with strong expertise in molecular biology, electrophysiology, and/or prior experience in animal models of diseases (for example, toxin or inflammation-induced demyelination models, hypoxia-ischemia models) and glial cell characterization are highly encouraged to apply.

Very competitive salary will be provided. Postdoc salary at UC Davis is paid above the NIH scale. Paid postdoc employees at UC Davis are eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits, vacations, and sick leaves as outlined by UC Davis HR. The positions will remain open until filled.

To apply, interested applicants should forward an updated curriculum vitae, research statement, and contact information of three references directly to the Principal Investigator, Fuzheng Guo, PhD at
