Full TimeDescription/Notes:Program ManagementEstablish and implement the mission, procedures, goals, operating guidelines and short- and long-term strategies for comprehensive school counseling, graduation, crisis prevention/response, and mental health services in alignment with district goals.Oversee and coordinate prevention, intervention, and response teams to support campuses and the district with critical incidents in partnership with community mental health partners.In collaboration with other DSISD departments, including Director of Safety and the Director of Student Services, Central Office, and others as needed, co-lead threat assessment supports at the district level.Identify, analyze, and apply current research findings to plan and provide a comprehensive counseling plan and curriculum for all students. Evaluate and improve school counseling practices and make changes based on findings.Develop programs and recommend policies related to health and safety. Provide advice to district administration and other departments regarding policies, procedures, nursing, and healthcare standards on matters impacting students, staff, and the community.Collaborate with district-level administration to integrate and implement the counseling and student well-being or “whole child” priorities of the district.Manage the delivery of all campus counseling services and ensure consistent implementation of school curriculum and policies related to serving student needs.Co-create a coordinated continuum of Student Wellness services including a workflow of how students and staff access support.Ensure students have access to services and supports that improve their mental, physical, psychological, and academic wellness.Coordinate activities of the health services program with outside agencies and members of the medical and health care communities to ensure that students have access to adequate healthcare services. Represent the district in collaborative community programs related to student health.Serve as a permanent member of the district’s School Health Advisory Committee. Participate in the development of health education curriculum and contribute to other committees related to health and safety issues of students and staff.Create, lead, and oversee professional learning activities in the areas of comprehensive counseling, graduation, crisis prevention/response, threat assessment Student Wellness supports, and mental health services.AdministrationCreate, maintain, and update counseling handbooks, manuals, websites, brochures, and forms for campuses and families.Work collaboratively with Counselors, Administration, Registrars, College and Career staff, and other staff members; provide consultation to counselors and campus staff on academic guidance, counseling, student intervention and post-graduation preparation programs.Develop and administer counseling budget and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.Ensure that all campuses have needed counseling and health clinic supplies and resources, and recommend purchase, replacement, and repair of equipment when needed.Convene and facilitate special work groups for strategic planning, problem solving, and training.Compile, maintain, and report as needed regarding the counseling and health programs of the district.Implement and comply with policies established by federal and state law, Texas Department of State Health Services rule, State Board of Education rule, and Board policy.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Personnel ManagementWork cooperatively with principals to recruit, interview, select, train, supervise, and evaluate all counselors, mental health professionals, and health services personnel, and make recommendations about assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.Collaborate with Human Resources to prepare, review, and revise department job descriptions.Share responsibility with principals to evaluate performance of counselors and nurses to ensure program effectiveness, and develop training options and improvement plans to ensure exemplary operation in the counseling and health services areas.Plan and conduct professional development, orientation, training, and certification programs for counselors and mental health professionals.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervise, evaluate, and make recommendations about hiring, assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal of school counselors and mental health professionals. Work collaboratively with campus principals in the supervision of campus nurses throughout the district.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Social Work, or related field required.Valid Texas School Counselor Certification required.Experience:Five years’ experience in school counseling and leadership administration.Five years' successful supervisory experience in an educational setting required.Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to organize, develop, and evaluate the PreK-12 counseling program.Ability to direct, implement, and oversee the District Crisis Counseling Response Protocols.Ability to research and implement policies and procedures.Ability to manage budget and personnel.Knowledge of school nursing administration requirements.Knowledge of community medical and healthcare services.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Salary Range:

$98,994.78 - $138,119.90 / Per YearBenefits:
