will play a pivotal role in our accounting department.We are looking for a self-starter and an innovative thinker to help take LP to the next level. If you are driven to deeply understand our firm, possess a working knowledge of the legal industry, enjoy tackling complex challenges, and think beyond the obvious, and solving accounting and reporting puzzles, we want to meet you.In this position, the right candidate will have the opportunity to directly impact our business, working closely with firm leadership, attorneys, Accounting, IT and other support staff teams to build and create impactful reporting that leads to actionable insights.You will also oversee system upgrades with the Technology and Accounting teams.Key Responsibilities:Manage and oversee the firm’s financial reports and systems, ensuring data integrity and system efficiency.Recommend solutions and accounting processes that will further enhance the firm and our internal control structure.Assist with our accounting system conversion including system balancing, mapping current reports, creating new reports and adding system alerts.We currently use Thomson Reuters ProLaw and will convert to Aderant Sierra in mid-2025.Keep the new accounting system and reporting updated and relevant. Identify and solve issues with the data by leading software upgrades and/or changing processes.Operate and manage other add-on financial systems including time entry such as iTimeKeep and Laurel passive timekeeping.Ensure that they are updated and in sync with the Aderant Sierra platform.Ensure employee training materials are up to date.Oversee the financial integrity of the financial data on our intranet (through Aderant and then our data lake) intranet reporting and complete the monthly upload to Thomson Reuters Financial Insights.Create, prepare, and update various financial reports and communicate findings effectively to senior leadership and staff to provide actionable insights for business decisions and improvement. Examples include billable timekeeper and client matter reporting, billing write-downs, profitability and compensation committee reporting for working and originating attorneys.Build relationships with staff and attorneys.Understand business, practice group, attorney and client needs.Have a proven and successful understanding of interpreting business needs and understanding financial data, KPIs and other performance-based metrics.Support accounting and other staff groups across the firm in managing financial system data/report requests.Essential Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.Minimum of five years of experience with financial reporting and financial systems, preferably in the legal industry.Advanced knowledge of Aderant Expert, Thomson Reuters 3E or a high-end professional service reporting system, includinga strong understanding of time and billing systems.Foundational business acumen of the legal and/or professional services industry.Strong verbal, written communication and problem-solving skills, with experience presenting to leadership teams.High proficiency in Excel, including formulas such as lookups, sumifs and pivot tables.High degree of professionalism, integrity, and the ability to exercise excellent discretion and judgment when dealing with confidential information.Advanced experience working with various reporting and analytical platforms and tools.Ability to design and improve existing financial processes through analysis and research.A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and requiring cross-functional collaboration.Preferred Qualifications (but not necessary):Certified Public Accountant or other certifications preferred.General understanding of SQL and working knowledge of SSRS.Experience with other financial systems and tools used in the legal industry such as Concur and InTapp.Levenfeld Pearlstein, LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees in a harassment-free environment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, alienage, or veteran status.
