Overview:
The Tooling Engineer is responsible for creating, documenting, developing, and implementing procedures used to tool the Company's products.Responsibilities:Improve overall processes and related issues including process developmentSchedule and create process documentationProblem solving and program managementDesign, installation, and debug of tooling and capital equipmentObtain tooling quotes and coordinate sourcing, build and tryoutDevelop and troubleshoot stamping processesSpecify forming and stamping equipmentProvide engineering resources for other departments as requiredFollow quality systems procedures as requiredDesign and develop manufacturing tooling and fixturesProvide tool construction personnel with sketches and instructionsInvestigate and analyze tooling, processing, assembly and sequencing issuesInitiate corrective actions to include the modification of plant tooling and machine programmingWork closely with product and process teams to design, install, and launch robust processes including process 'sign off' activities and production pilotsParticipate in problem resolution teamsDevelop specifications and analyze supplier quotations for purchase of new production equipment up to and including entire manufacturing linesDaily troubleshooting of assembly and press shop problems to support productionLiaison with R&D to ensure manufacturability of components prior to releaseContact person for ECN (Engineering Change Notice) implementationOther duties as assigned
Qualifications:1. Knowledge/Experience:CAD experience requiredi.e.: AutoCAD, Pro E, Solid WorksJourneyman Tool and Die experience a plusDie Design experience a plusKnowledge of design applications- stamping and moldingKnowledge of equipment and systems appropriate to related disciplineKnowledge of engineering principles and procedures2. Skills and Abilities:Skill in applying engineering principles and proceduresSkill in engineering design applicationsAbility to effectively communicateThe desire to strive for both personal and operational excellence through a never-ending drive for continuous improvementCommitted to achieving world-class performance standards3. Education:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field OR 8 years of equivalent experienceAny equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources4. Physical Requirements:Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting
