This mission-driven Nonprofit Organization is seeking a VP Finance / Controller to join the team. This individual will be responsible for leading the finance function & team, as well as serving as a Strategic Business Partner to the CEO. This is a unique opportunity to join a team that is truly invested in making a positive impact on the Boston community.
Though Controller level experience is preferred, strong Accounting Managers & Assistant Controllers are encouraged to apply! Individuals coming out of Public Accounting are encouraged to apply as well!

Manage the functional areas of financial reporting and control, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax, investor relations, and audit management information.Perform a hands-on monthly close process. Prepare financial reports for program staff and volunteer Board and Committees. Coordinate and oversee annual audit by independent accountants.Direct the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances.Oversee, monitor, maximize and forecast the organizations financial performance and financial position, cash flow, investments and assets.Manage operating and reserve cash balances. Oversee disbursement process.In partnership with Human Resources, process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll, reconcile benefit billings and payroll withholdings, and perform administrative services for employee benefits.Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory authorities for government contracts.Analyze and evaluate business cases and financial impact of potential for new partnerships, programs, products, and services.Provide for technology needs through delegation and use of outside service provider.Establish finance policies and procedures. Implement and monitor accounting controls.Ensure accurate and timely completion of annual audit, required tax filings, and 990 as needed defined by auditors with multiple steps.Risk Management Implement procedures to reduce risk. Evaluate insurance needs and coordinate annual insurance renewal.Qualifications:
CPA preferred, but not requiredBachelors degree in accounting, finance or equivalent10+ years of relevant experienceNonprofit organization experience is a plus, but not requiredDetail orientedAble to manage and prioritize many time-sensitive tasks simultaneouslyTeam player
