TAX MANAGER Who We Are - Austin Powder is a privately held global explosives & blasting company who manufactures a full line of commercial explosives and provides blasting services to customers in the quarrying, mining, construction, and oil and gas industries -- all for the purpose of providing aggregate, energy, and mineral products to consumers. You'll focus on: Financial reporting, tax compliance, tax accounting (including Corptax provision), audits and inquiries and other associated tax work. Analysis and documentation of tax law & regulations, including identification & implementation of tax saving alternatives and strategies. Continuous improvement of the performance and value of the Austin Powder Tax Team. The Tax Manager supervises Tax and Senior Tax Accountants and reports to the Tax Director, works collaboratively with tax personnel as well as other Austin Powder functions, departments, and external advisors in a hybrid work environment. Key Responsibilities and Duties Review and prepare annual and quarterly international tax provisions. Review and prepare federal, state, & local income/franchise tax returns and supporting work papers and files. This includes assisting with developing procedures as well as requesting, tracking, gathering, processing, interpreting, and adjusting required information in accordance with public company rules and regulations (i.e. PCAOB/404/SOX). Utilize and assist with the continuous development of tax web-based software. Assist with the development of projections of current and future taxes, assets, and accruals. International tax planning idea generation & research, and project management. Assist with tax audits and inquiries. Assist with analysis of the tax consequences of proposed transactions. Assist with identification and analysis of new and proposed tax laws & regulations. Collaborate with external tax advisors and consultants on special projects. Participate on quality improvement teams and train & mentor personnel. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Tax discipline. 5-10+ years tax experience in public accounting or industry with increasing levels of authority. CPA certification strongly preferred Master's degree is a plus. Skills and Knowledge Must be analytical and able to research and understand new tax technical concepts & laws/rules. Knowledge of US income tax rules and regulations. A desire to work with a fast-paced international team for a growing global explosives leader & innovator. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and use of internet resources. Experience with Corptax provision and tax return software is a plus. Familiarity with OneStream software is a plus. Work Environment This position is located in Cleveland, OH. Office setting with hybrid schedule (partial remote work not guaranteed to continue). Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other computer components. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripheral.
