A financial advisory firm located in New York City is actively seeking a driven and analytical professional to join their staff as their new Fund Accountant. In this role, the Fund Accountant will provide expertise and hands-on support to manage the day-to-day accounting, cash transaction posting, journal entry processing, and trade operations for the Private Equity Funds or Hedge Funds.
Responsibilities
The Fund Accountant will:Monitor the due date of capital calls and distributions to/from underlying funds to ensure timely payment/receiptReview distributions from investments in portfolio companies to ensure proper and accurate accounting treatment and partner allocationPrepare capital call and distribution notices to partnersPrepare the month-end close accounting work papersTrack and record monthly valuations for investments across the portfolioInitiate, process, and maintain support for wire transfersReconcile trading activity to brokers and review settlements for accuracy, including derivative activityAssist with year-end audit, including preparation of financial statements and with the tax processAssist with various ad hoc requests and projects throughout the yearQualifications
Bachelor's degree2-3+ years of public accounting experience with fund clientsProficiency with computer platforms and applicationsDemonstrates initiativeComfortable working independentlyAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication skillsDesired skills
