Job Summary
The Controller is responsible for all financial aspects of hospital activities and is a member of the Revenue Cycle Team. Direct responsibility for Accounting, Payroll, Fixed Assets and Accounts Payable.
Reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Maintains relationships with all department heads.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
•Responsibility for monthly and year-end financial statements, annual budgets, and cash flow.
•Oversees and manages Annual Audit, Cost Report and 990 preparation by Audit firm
•Assists CFO in preparing the annual budgets (Service Demand, Operating & Capital).
•Assists CFO in the development of new systems and/or projects that enhance the hospital's financial environment.
•Maintain current and correct general ledger data on information system and other related databases (McKesson Paragon or Other ERP system, Idea Budget, UKG, Vantage).
•Assists CFO in developing and maintaining internal control policies and procedures which safeguard hospital's financial assets.
•Maintain departmental reports, records, and collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
•Analysis and prepares variance reporting on financial statements to identify trends and areas of opportunity.
•Preparation of and filing of federal, state, hospital association, third party, and other financial reports as required.
•Verify daily postings and current cash balances.
•Complete monthly closing by preparing and reconciling accounts assigned by the 12th working day of the month.
•Performs duties related to Accounts Payable and Payroll.
•Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
•Attend and participate in appropriate meetings.
•Prepare the monthly financial reports for the Board presentation.
•Prepare and record monthly closing entries including contractual allowances.
Job Requirements
Required Education
Bachelors in Accounting
Required Work experience
Five years of accounting experience, of which two must be in a leadership role
Preferred qualifications
C.P.A. preferred but not mandatory; non-profit and/or hospital setting preferred
Masters in Accounting or Healthcare related Masters
