JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Managers and Directors of the Firm, the Senior Associate of Tax Services is the primary assistant to clients. A Tax Senior provides a full-service approach to tax preparation, tax planning and compliance, estate planning, international taxation, business tax solutions, mergers, and acquisitions.

Major Responsibilities:

Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporationsReconcile tax expense and liability accountsAssist with income tax research and planningQuantify and document federal and state income tax liabilities for tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments. Activities include quantifying book/tax adjustments, federal/state modifications, and state apportionmentQuantify and document calculations for FAS (Forensic Advisory Services) 109. Activities include quantifying the effective tax rate and current and deferred income tax expenses and taxes payableMaintain strong client relationsTrain and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviewsMaintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectivelyConsult, work with, and service clients to make recommendations on business and process improvements and serve as a business advisor to clientsAttend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis and stay informed regarding tax changes and issues that could affect clientsResponsible for billing clientsPreferred Qualifications:

Three (3) or more years of public accounting experience in a tax departmentExperience with a large public accounting firmAbility to superviseAbility to handle client communication responsibilitiesBachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA (Certified Public Accountant)Master's Degree in Taxation, LLM in Taxation or JD a plusExcellent analytical, technical and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax compliance and consultingAbility to work additional hours as needed
