The Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information through a hands-on approach in the financial process and accounting operations. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will manage the accounting staff and oversee the accounting, tax, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions. In addition, the Controller will lead the efforts to mitigate risk through sound internal controls, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities
Maintain a direct approach with the daily accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, P&L analysis, and financial statement close process.Oversee the accounting team and ensure the timely and accurate completion of financial tasks.Accomplish department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.Plan, monitor and appraise job results.Ensure the company financials are presented in coordination with GAAP.Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual audits and tax filings.Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.Assist in the financial integration of acquisition targets.Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.Manage all aspects of the fixed asset process, cash transactions, and general journal entries.Manage the sales tax process and associated filings.Assist in establishing accounting policies and procedures, aligned with company's targets.Ensure that the company maintains compliance, regulations, and accounting legislation.Assist with accounting projects, research, and analysis.Collaborate with other departments to optimize financial processes and drive efficiency.Plan, coordinate, and control the ongoing processes of the accounting department. Actively seek to identify and implement measures to streamline the accounting function.Requirements
A bachelor's degree in accounting is requiredMaster's degree or CPA designation preferred5+ years of accounting experience with a proven track record of advancementSupervisory experience requiredManufacturing experience preferredSAP experience is highly preferredWorking knowledge of tax laws and GAAPStrong financial analysis skillsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalStrong organizational and stress management skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with ExcelAAP/EEO Statement
