AWHS Mammographer Job DescriptionJob Summary: The Mammography Technologist performs screening examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in patients for our physicians. The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment or devices necessary. Provides patient care essential to breast imaging. Assists in optimizing patient flow. Exhibits flexibility and adaptability to the unique needs of the Imaging department and responds appropriately. Reports to: Imaging Manager.FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Service: Maximize utilization of Ultrasound servicesPreparing for diagnostic testsView patient chart for previous studies and pertinent informationInput appropriate charges ensuring medical necessityEnsure physician needs are met to increase resource utilizationProvide written summary of technical findings to physician for use in medical diagnosis.Ensure protocols and standards are up to date for accreditationPerform clerical duties, such as scheduling exams or special procedures, keeping records, or archiving computerized imagesService: Ensure Customer SatisfactionPerform diagnostic tests in a timely mannerEscort patient to appropriate waiting areaExplain procedures & answer patient questionsHave patient undress appropriately for test & perform appropriate procedureAssess need for additional follow up examsNotify ordering physician of abnormal exams before patient leaves the officeEnsure documentation is obtainedProvide superior service to ensure customer satisfaction to both patients and providersObserve and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort.Quality: Exam Room MaintenanceClean and maintain exam room and equipmentMaintain stock of supplies, stock linens and maintain rooms in a neat and orderly mannerEnsure all imaging equipment are up to date with preventative maintenanceQuality: Appointment Efficiency and VolumeMaximizing volume and appointment efficiency through work-ins and communicating.Maintain availability in schedule to meet patient needs. RequirementsRequired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of office policies and procedures to accurately answer questions from patients.Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, Microsoft Office, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.Knowledge and correct usage of medical terminology.Knowledge and application of proper mammographer techniques.Ability to navigate and effectively use EMR.
