Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for an experienced

Tax Administrator/Revenue Collector

to lead the County Tax Office. The Tax Administrator/Revenue Collector administers all County ad valorem tax and revenue functions, including billing, collections, real property appraisal, personal property appraisal, registered motor vehicles, business personal property, mapping, etc. Work includes:Performing administrative and supervisory work in planning, organizing, and directing an effective and comprehensive tax collection, listing, assessment, and land records program for the County.Supervising all real estate appraisals, personal property listings, business listings, motor vehicle values, property mapping, audits of personal property, and reappraisals of real estate.Supervising all tax collections for Brunswick County and all towns within the County.Overseeing the management of the License Plate Agency office.Researching and developing new and revised procedures, processes, computer program forms, etc. to meet changing needs and improve departmental efficiency.Supervising professional, paraprofessional, technical, and clerical personnel.Working closely with the Board of Equalization and Review, government officials, county personnel, property owners, and the general public.The

Tax Administrator/Revenue Collector

is also responsible for preparing and administering the annual Tax Office budget and setting goals and implementing strategies for carrying out the department's mission. This position is appointed by the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners and reports to the County Manager. The successful candidate will work closely with the County Manager and the Board of Commissioners to advise, confer, and assist on all tax assessment matters.Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or related field

AND

six (6) to nine (9) years' experience in tax assessment, appraisal, or collections, including one (1) to two (2) years' supervisory experience;

OR

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Valid NC or SC driver license required.Completion of special training and certification by the North Carolina Department of Revenue as prescribed in the North Carolina State statutes.Candidates will be evaluated based on their qualifications and career history presented through their submittal of a comprehensive package of information outlining career highlights and notable achievements.

Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, calculators, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
