DESCRIPTION:

Perform precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to

specification. Ensure conformance requirements through the use of calibrated measuring equipment and visual

inspection. Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process

travelers. Must be able to work off-shift, weekends and holidays when business demands require it.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:•Basic blueprint reading & shop math (Trigonometry)•Inspect first off parts from manufacturing work centers•Collect measurement data for use in First Article Inspection (FAI) reports•Collect and provide data required for critical part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs)•Complete customer required part to print data forms and send with parts•Perform roving in-process inspection of parts being run in Manufacturing•Inspect in-house and out-sourced in process production run parts•Review routers to ensure that upstream operations have been completed and signed off•Inspect in-house and out-sourced in process production run parts•Review routers to ensure that upstream operations have been completed and signed off•Complete Discrepant Material Report (DMR) forms for rejected parts•Inspect incoming purchased parts from compliance to specifications•Inspect outgoing material for packaging and conformance to requirements•Perform surface plate and comparator setups•Fill out and file required reports, logs, databases, forms, and documents•Report safety or process control concerns to the Inspection Team Leader or Plant Quality Manager•Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted

safe work practices•Perform additional related duties as assigned•Basic CMM alignment & manual CMM measurements

RECOMMENDED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:•ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certification desirable.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:•5-7 years' experience performing in-process and final inspection preferably in a machining, automotive or

aerospace business•Thorough knowledge of GD&T•CMM operation required•Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale

(linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards•Visual cosmetic inspection experience required•Supervisory experience a plus•CMM programming preferred•Good written and verbal communication skills•Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner is essential•Ability to understand and follow instructions•Independent; can work with little to no supervision and direction•NPI or R&D experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:•Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor•Exert up to 40 pounds occasionally•Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading dial and digital gages, blueprints, and precision

measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and assemblies•Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify finish defects•Able to hear and understand spoken directions•Able to hear warning bells, tones, and alarms (e.g., forklift, horn, telephone, etc.)
