The Sales Tax Manager position requires a degree in Accounting or a related field and at least 10 years in a corporate tax department/accounting firm working in the sales tax field. Experience with a tax engine such as Vertex or OneSource is preferred. Experience with SAP is desired.
The ideal candidate will be well versed in Excel. Great communication skills are a must, as this position requires extensive interaction with auditors, internal departments such as accounts payable and accounts receivable, as well as customers and vendors of Avanos.
Specific job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee all aspects of the sales & use tax compliance processManage relationship with third party compliance service providerManage sales & use tax auditsPerform/review monthly reconciliation of key general ledger accounts including Sales and Use Tax Payable accountsRecommend and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency in tax compliance reporting and operationsAct as liaison between tax and accounting departments by establishing and communicating proper policies and proceduresRemain current on changes to tax regulations and processes and partner with teams to ensure overall compliance with sales & use tax reporting requirementsResponsible for maintaining sales & use taxability/exemption matrix for company's various products and services in appropriate taxing jurisdictionsMonitor legislative changes which affect the taxability or exemption of product linePerform tax research and provide technical advice on various sales tax issues regarding the taxability or exemption of productsManage Canadian Indirect Tax compliance (GST, HST and PST)Manage Canadian GST, HST and PST AuditsRequired:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceMin 5-8 years of broad-based tax experience, preferably preparing tax returns utilizing tax software systems, in a large multinational corporation or public accounting firmPreferred:
CPA certificate MST or MBA Experience leading a team a plus
