In 1995, we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in the Bronx, with a vision that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Today, our network consists of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive program to support our students and alumni in choosing and preparing for the educational and career paths that fit their goals and sense of purpose. KIPP NYC currently serves more than 11,000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000 (11 % of whom are alumni), and continues to grow!
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Associate Director, Student Recruitment is critical to KIPP NYC's mission to grow and serve nearly 10,000 students by 2028. The Associate Director will create and implement a regional strategy for student recruitment, as well as support enrollment and retention, to ensure that all KIPP NYC schools are fully enrolled every school year. The Associate Director will be responsible for maintaining strategic relationships at the school level to drive clear execution of this plan, with support from the KIPP NYC Regional Operations team and other KIPP NYC teams. The Associate Director will also use rigorous data analysis to continuously improve KIPP NYC's student recruitment practices based on current trends in our communities.
The Associate Director, Student Recruitment will report directly to the KIPP NYC Director of Student Recruitment & Enrollment, and will be a member of the External Affairs team. The Associate Director will have three direct reports on the Student Recruitment and Enrollment team: the Associate Manager and two (2) Associates. This position is based out of NYC and will require travel within NYC, including all Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. This position is not available remotely.
General Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):Creates and executes year-round student recruitment plan on both a regional and school-specific levelManages, trains, and develops the Community Outreach team to generate family and community interest KIPP NYC Public Schools using community demographics and strategic external partnerships measurable through various SRE metricsTracks and reports Community Outreach team efforts and results to key stakeholdersAnnually assesses the regional SRE strategy using regular analysis of demographics, application & enrollment data, attrition data, and community needsLeads professional development for school-based operations teams on the successful creation, planning, and execution of campus outreach plansSupports the development of Student Recruitment & Enrollment (SRE) marketing materials, citywide advertising, and online campaigns/social media for attracting and engaging new prospective familiesWorks in collaboration with the Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment to ensure strong cross collaboration between regional and school based staff.As needed, attend weekend or evening community events and provide in-person support during critical times of the year Any events that take place outside of standard business hours will be communicated and scheduled in advance.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required with 4+ years' experience in field marketing, student recruitment experience preferredDemonstrated understanding of NYC student recruitment landscape, including CBOS, tabling opportunities, canvassing routes, and impactful local media opportunitiesHigh proficiency in, notably Sheets and Slides for presentationsStrong prioritization and ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detailExperience managing cross-functional teams and direct reports to develop and implement systems and processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a growing organizationDemonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems, including driving key initiatives from stakeholdersAbility to analyze and present data to inform key operational decisions/adjustmentsCommunicates and works effectively with those from diverse backgrounds; able to consider cultural differences and community concerns that may impact operational systemsKnowledge of educational landscape and community dynamics in neighborhoods preferredProficiency in Spanish preferred, not requiredAdditional Information
Compensation and Benefits:
For the Associate Director, Student Recruitment position we offer, $97,850 - $112,270. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band.
