Underwriting Assistant

is responsible for providing administrative support to the underwriting department. The primary role of the Underwriting Assistant is to process and quote/issue new and renewal business, new and renewal submissions, communicate with our internal teams (Claims, Risk Control, Audit, etc.) and our external customers (brokers, policyholders). This position requires particular attention to detail, being a team player, and is task-oriented.Key functions include but are not limited to:Provide excellent customer service by answering phone calls, and email requests/inquiries in a quick, professional, and courteous mannerWork closely with the underwriting operations Supervisor to manage and service the current book of businessProcess business and renewal submissions in accordance with Company specificationsIssue new and renewal policiesIssue new and renewal guaranteed cost, retrospective rating and large deductible quotes and policiesCollaborate with team members and brokers necessary to obtain additional information as neededCommunicate with brokers and policyholders regarding billing questionsIssue monthly Large Deductible billings and annual Retrospective Rating adjustmentsCommunicate with state agencies to resolve inquiriesProcess WCIRB and other state bureau correspondencesQualifications:

BA/BS degree is preferred2-3 years of experience as a Workers Compensation underwriting associate at a carrier or agencyMust be able to work regularly at our main office in Orange CountyAbility to work in a fast paced, decision-oriented environmentExcellent communication and analytical skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasksStrong automation skills including MS Office productsAbility to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
