A real estate investment firm in Florida is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join their growing team as their new Director of Fund Accounting. In this position, the Director of Fund Accounting will be responsible for playing a pivotal role in enhancing the structure, controls, and financial rigor of their operations.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Fund Accounting will:Provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day accounting operations of the firm's flagship funds and co-investment fundsCoordinate external audits and supervise a team of 2-3 AccountantsWork closely with General Partners (GPs) and Investor Relations (IR) team to support fund activities and LP reportingReview books and records, manage capital activities, including management fees, and oversee allocations to LPsHandle ad-hoc, quarterly, and annual LP reporting, including administration of capital calls and distributionsOversee waterfall models and performance reporting, ensuring accuracy and transparency in fund operationsCoordinate with fund administrators for outsourced fundsLead the annual PE funds audit process, managing coordination with external auditorsReview quarterly fund valuations and ensure compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP standardsCollaborate with internal tax staff and external service providers, including attorneys, consultants, and bankersManage quarterly financial closings, reviewing P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements for accuracyPartner with Investor Relations team to review quarterly Limited Partner materials and marketing decksProvide assistance with periodic portfolio company deal closings, ensuring smooth transaction processesQualifications:
8+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate AccountingBachelor's Degree in AccountingExpertise in Property Accounting, Joint Ventures, and Real Estate FundsStrong acumen and experience with Private Equity Fund financial operations and industry best practicesGeneral understanding of GAAP and partnership accounting for private equity fundsActive experience in a Supervisory role, with demonstrated leadership abilitiesMicrosoft Excel proficeintDesired Skills:
CPA designationPublic Accounting BackgroundExperience with Yardi software
