About Our Transmission Line Program
Join our team at HDR Engineering, a leading industry player and an employee-owned company, as we seek to hire a Transmission Line Project Engineer. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission line design and a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
As a valued member of our nationally recognized Power Delivery team, you will have the opportunity to work independently on a diverse array of high-voltage transmission line projects. Additionally, you will actively contribute to the growth and development of emerging engineers by mentoring, supervising, and providing training. Primary Responsibilities
In the role of
Transmission Project Engineer,
we'll count on you to:
Design transmission lines using PLS-CADD.Coordinate, issue, and stamp Transmission Line construction packages. The packages typically will include plan and profiles, stringing charts, structure and foundation drawings, load trees, hardware drawings, phasing diagrams, and more.Assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members.Check and perform quality control reviews for work prepared by junior engineers and designers.Identify and implement learning opportunities for junior team members.Prepare cost estimates and proposals.Originate and/or check design criteria, specifications, and scoping documents.Manage relationship with clients and conduct design review and coordination meetings.Monitor project schedule and budget.Conduct field walks to define scope, verify constructability, and/or document existing conditions.These field walks will require occasional short-term travel (typically 1 to 3 days).Coordinate and provide input to other disciplines to support environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, public involvement, access roads, and construction requirements.Support Engineering and Project Managers to meet project and department goals and deliverables.Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.Experience interpreting and applying industry design codes such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE and ACI.PE license required with the ability to obtain an Oregon and Washington PE license within 6 months of hiring.A minimum of 5 years of transmission line engineering experience.Proficiency using PLS-CADD,Proven experience performing analysis of transmission structures, preparing specifications, and originating engineering drawings for transmission line projects.Experience communicating and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including environmental, real estate, construction, maintenance, substation, and project management.Strong written and verbal communication skills.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Lattice steel structure design software such as Tower and/or ATADS.Experience in foundation design using software such as LPile, Caisson and/or MFAD.Master's degree in related field preferred.
