Position Summary:Samsung SDS plays a leading role in the global logistics market with unique logistics services. With its innovative IT technology, SDS developed the integrated logistics solution called “Cello” in 2010, started its logistics business in 2012 and expanded its logistics business with Business Process Outsourcing.As Logistics Counsel, you identify significant legal issues and provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal support to various business stakeholders of the company’s Smart Logistics (SL) business. Primarily, this position will provide legal advice for a resolution of logistics claims, including those arising out of warehouse operations and transportation, develop and maintain SOPs for claims processes, and help file claims with relevant insurance carriers, and mitigate legal risks by ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to SL business. This position will also draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts in the context of global supply chain and logistics services, particularly relating to 3PL, 4PL transportation and warehousing, import/export, and customs. This requires understanding of the logistics and supply chain, ability to establish priorities and take actions, while promoting good legal practices and explaining difficult issues clearly and working with others to establish consensus. Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, timely reporting to leadership, while collaborating within SL Legal & Compliance and business stakeholders within and outside the organization.To learn more about Samsung SDS America, Inc. please visit www.samsungsds.com/en/logistics/logistics.htmlResponsibilities:Draft, review, and negotiate the full range of legal documents relating to various claims as well as logistics services-related agreements, including warehouse management agreements and transportation agreements for multiple modes of transportationInternal communication with relevant stakeholders and external communication with insurance brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, legal counsel, etc.Analyze collected data to determine claim validity and coverage and/or liabilityProvide legal advice to internal clients for the resolution of claims and complaintsIdentify legislative and regulatory changes and recommend appropriate actionAct as the internal subject matter expert to provide interpretation and explanation of contracts, applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to claimsRepresent SL Legal in internal and external meetings, and communicate accordingly with third-party bodies such as customers, vendors, partners, outside counsel, auditors, insurance brokers/carriers, and the likeDevelop and distribute key reports and analyses, including claim reports and ad hoc reports for managementPromote legal compliance and best practices across the businessDeliver training and training materials to the business on key legal areasWork within company guidelines to review, analyze, and negotiate contractual agreements with customers, shippers, consignees, or carriersEscalate and coordinate with External Claims Adjusters (e.g., cargo/freight forwarders insurance carriers, etc.) in order to resolve claims issuesAssist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics processes and claimsDevelop, prepare, and implement claims litigation strategy, including affecting settlements and insurance coverage limitsWork toward the resolution of claims files and attend arbitrations, mediations, or trials as necessaryPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsRequirements/Qualifications:Active member of Texas bar license in good standingAt least 6 years’ relevant legal working experience, particularly in

trucks/trailers, cargo/freight damages, property damages, maritime claims, disputes, and insuranceAble to produce reports to support findings and analysesExtremely organized and detail-orientedExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate information in a clear and understandable mannerPositive attitude and high energy to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain a sense of urgency, and perform with a clear head under pressureSelf-motivated individual, assertive attitude, excel in a team-based environment yet able to work independentlyBe able to multitask and collaborate across different time zonesStrong customer service, people skillsProficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web-based applications, claims platformTravel %:
