Job Description

Title: Quality Inspector Reports to: Sr. Quality Coordinator Summary: Quality Inspectors examine and test printed product for defects and nonconformance to verify product quality before shipment to customer, sort non-conforming materials to remove defects while minimizing waste, select and prepare samples for in-house and customer testing, and maintain quality records. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS OVERVIEW: •Examine product samples for defects and non-conformance by comparing samples to standard, recording inspection data, and tallying defect information •Select and prepare samples for in-house and customer testing according to established requirements •Test product samples for conformance to specifications using various test equipment •Release conforming products for shipment •Examine and sort non-conforming materials •Communicate with and support production teams •Participate as active members of the Quality Team and various project teams to meet production and team goals •May participate in internal audits •Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, and promote a safe work environment •Conduct all work in accordance with the established integrated management system requirements to ensure stewardship of the environment, occupational health and safety, product quality and continual improvement. •Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for EHS, personal protection, and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines. - Follows all personal protection procedures by use of appropriate personal protective equipment at all times while in designated areas and specific tasks requiring the use of PPE. - Follows established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste. - Maintains and wears proper uniform according to company policies. - Use Company provided safety lifting equipment, i.e., hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc. - On a regular basis, examines work areas to keep it in a safe and neat condition, including but not limited to proper grounding, cleanup ink and solvent containers. - Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc. - Effectively demonstrates the ability to maintain work area in a safe and proper working order including but not limited to cleaning press area, mopping floors, and emptying trashcans.

Requirements: •High school diploma and 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. •Basic PC skills, oral and written communication skills, and team skills. •Related experience in a gravure printing environment, product inspection experience, or experience with ISO quality systems is highly desirable. •ASQ certification is a plus. •Ability to recognize and select small defects is required •Ability to work independently •Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists •Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Demands: •The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required. •This position may require prolonged periods of walking, standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking. •Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment in a safe manner. Manual dexterity is required. •Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to use vision corrected to 20/20, and to distinguish color hues is required. •Must be able to rotate shifts as required. •Must be available to work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs.

Work Environment •While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. •The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. •The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
