Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Wastewater Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wastewater treatment processes, regulations, and compliance. As a Wastewater Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of wastewater treatment operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing treatment processes, and implementing innovative solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and optimize wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards.

Conduct routine inspections and tests to assess the performance of treatment systems and identify areas for improvement.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize treatment processes, minimize environmental impact, and reduce operating costs.

Provide technical expertise and support to operations staff, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in wastewater treatment and environmental management.

Collaborate with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and other departments to ensure compliance with permits, regulations, and reporting requirements.

Participate in the development and implementation of wastewater treatment projects, including upgrades, expansions, and new installations.

Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff on wastewater treatment processes, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.

Proven experience in water and wastewater management, including knowledge of treatment processes, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Strong understanding of water quality parameters and analytical techniques.

Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, regulations (EPA, state, and local), and permit requirements, specifically EPA-NPDES Permits.

Experience with wastewater treatment plant operations, process optimization, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in data analysis, modeling software, and SADA.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders and work in a team environment.

Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator) are a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge on finding/navigating various funding streams (such as grant and loan programs) through USDA, and SRF.

Experience:

Wastewater: 1 year (Required)

Utility management: 1 year (Required)

Travel:

This position requires extensive travel throughout the state to various project sites and client locations. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time.
