Position: Manager of Development & Special Events Reports to: Managing Director of Development & Senior Grant Writer Location: Hybrid role; 902 Broadway, New York, NY 10010 | 1071 East Tremont, Bronx (when in office) About Phipps Neighborhoods Phipps Neighborhoods, the social service affiliate of Phipps Houses, has been a catalyst for community growth and empowerment for over 50 years. Our mission is focused on creating safe, inclusive spaces where community members can access education, career opportunities, and economic pathways. Serving approximately 14,000 individuals New Yorkers annually, we address barriers to educational achievement, economic security, and career stability through three key program areas. Education and School-Day Programs: Offering pre-kindergarten services, community schools, after-school programs, and college access counseling. Sector-Focused Training and Employment Placement Pathways: Providing specialized training, employment placement pathways, Summer Youth Employment, Work Learning Grow initiatives, and aiding residents in accessing new employment opportunities. Community & Economic Empowerment Services: Enabling community progress through community centers, resident services, food access, financial literacy programs, and support accessing benefits and wellness services. We collaborate with government, corporate, and philanthropic partners to effect significant and lasting social change, fostering thriving communities. Position Overview The Development and Special Events Manager will provide essential support for all Development and Communications functions, working collaboratively with the Managing Director of Development & Senior Grant Writer and the Communications team. This role involves managing corporate and individual donor cultivation, overseeing the donor database, event production, and serving as a liaison between internal departments and external stakeholders. Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000Key Responsibilities · Corporate and Individual Donor Support and Management: o Manage donor database and prospect management system. o Accurately produce reports, manage data, and update donor/prospect information. o Ensure data is used to drive prospecting, cultivation, and solicitation processes. o Collaborate with the communications team to manage the design, message, donors, responses, and follow-up for Annual Appeal and Summer Appeal. o Ensure accurate recording of donor information within Raiser’s Edge database. o Support content development for donor communications. o Produce fund development reports, including weekly and monthly reports tracking fundraising results. o Cultivate new prospects as identified by the department and Executive Team. o Maintain a development calendar, tracking proposals and reporting deadlines for major donors and identifying new funding opportunities. · Event Production: o Support the Community Builder Awards Annual Dinner, and other fund-and friend-raising events, including planning, day-of execution, donor communications, managing funds, ensuring the success of all major fundraising campaigns. o Coordinate planning and logistics of special events with program teams. o Support the creation of outward-facing communications media and event materials, outreach, and relations. o Manage annual Turkey Drives, Toy Drives, and additional agency-wide initiatives. · Grant Writing Support: o Collaborate with the Managing Director of Development to provide critical support in grant writing activities. o Assist in researching, writing, project managing, and submitting proposals and reports. o Coordinate with various teams to compile necessary information for grant applications. o Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant deliverables. · Internal/External Liaison o Liaise with the Finance Department to deepen the relationship, streamline processes, and integrate new systems as needed. o Collaborate with the Development team to increase the use of Raiser's Edge and introduce NXT usage for program staff. o Work closely with the Managing Director of Development & Senior Grant Writer to project manage and update filing RFPs and grants-related information in Raiser's Edge. o Support the creation of annual development goals and manage the Development budget in coordination with the Executive Director. Requirements/Qualifications B.A. /B.S. with an emphasis or concentration in nonprofit management, business, marketing, public relations or related fieldTwo - five years professional development and experience working in fundraising, marketing, non-profit administration, Public Relations, and managing donor relationships. Friendly, curious, and hardworking team player invested in the Bronx, Phipps Neighborhoods' mission, or social justice causes. Excellent writing, editing, and marketing skills with a proven ability to customize communications for multiple audiences. Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and superior attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidential information. Eagerness to 'own' projects, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and take appropriate steps to see them through in a timely manner. Strong ability to manage a donor database, Raiser's Edge (RE) experience preferred. Ability to inspire, train, motivate, challenge, and supervise volunteers. Confident public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing. Ability to use public transportation to various locations throughout the city and occasionally required to work a flexible schedule including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
