PRESCHOOL CENTER DIRECTOR
LOCATION: DOWNTOWN MIAMI, FL
SALARY RANGE: $51,000 as of 8/01 ANNUALIZED
STATUS: FULL-TIME EXEMPT

Summary:
This position carries the major responsibilities for center management, planning, implementing, monitoring of a child care center with a child population of 40-100 children. Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Educational & Center Services functions for Head Start, Early Head Start, VPK and SR programs, in accordance with state, local, and federal regulations, and to assist the Education Director in the on-going planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Head Start and Early Head Start programs at that center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following . Other duties may be assigned.Supervises and coordinates Head Start, Early Head start programSupervises all staff and trainees assigned to the classroom(s) center, including substitutes. Arranges substitutes as needed.Ensures the program meets licensing and compliance standards, follows YWCA child care curriculum and program standards for all funds.Manages the accuracy and timeliness of reporting that include but are not limited to: timesheets and sign-in/out logs; attendance and program related reporting (Federal Food, CDS, VPK, United Way, APPLE, NYAEC) incident reports, food program rosters and staff and children's files.Ensures that Other Agencies services agreements are follow.edInput information in date base for VPK and Gold Assessments for all children.Act as Liaison between County and the Center.Protects and conserves materials and food orders so that expenditures can be kept within budget. Collects and transmits fees.Safeguards the physical care and nurturing of the children.Arranges and maintains furniture and materials to promote independent and group management.Plans and shops for breakfasts and snacks according to state food program guidelines. Prepares and serves food and supervises and/or completes required records.Encourages the positive self Image of children through active listening, responding and encouraging independence while giving verbal and non-verbal reinforcement. Uses positive, non-punitive discipline techniques. Guides children in controlling their behavior by using positive, appropriate approaches.Promotes and maintain good relationship with sponsoring site, personnel, parents, and agencies.Serves as a liaison with parents and other related community groups; Plans and convenes parent meetings with the assistance of appropriate staff, planning parent conferences twice a year.Works with school and community to promote enrollment.Attends and participates in YWCA in-house staff training.Benefits:

Bachelor's (Required)License/Certification:
Teaching Certification (Preferred)Florida Directors credential (Preferred)Qualifications
Directors credentials a must within 90 days of hire!
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or related field with concentration in Early Childhood education or Child development; Three (3) to Five (5) years' experience in early childhood programs including two (2) years in supervisory experience preferred; Knowledge of NYAEC and APPLE accreditation standards; Experience in Head Start preferably; Director's Institute from United Way a Plus. CPR/First Aid Certification. Level 2 background screening and drug testing required. Director Credentials must be documented with VPK Endorsement and all VPK Courses
