The Planning Director is responsible for the supervision and administration of the Planning Department. The work includes reviewing plans for compliance with town regulations and Zoning bylaws, interpreting laws and regulations, coordinating work, conducting research, and making recommendations. You will write reports and decisions for the Planning Board; review development plans for compliance with regulations and make recommendations to the Planning Board; develop new regulations and Zoning Bylaws; provide information regarding the process of review and approval regarding Subdivision Regulations and Zoning Regulations; help to lead the development of the Master Plan, Hazard Mitigation Plan, and other planning studies, and all other related work.Minimum Recommended Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public Administration, or related field and at least five (5) years of responsible experience in planning and/or land use or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with online permitting systems (OpenGov) is required.Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners is preferred. Knowledge of municipal government; MGL CH 41 and 40A; Zoning and Planning regulations; Land Use Development; and understanding of GIS is essential.The salary range for this position is $89,316 – $116,111 depending on experience.The Town of Dartmouth is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
