Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Produce Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing our fresh produce inventory. Your goal will be to ensure that our stores are always stocked with the freshest and highest quality fruits and vegetables at the best prices.

Key Responsibilities:

Source Quality Produce: Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers to source fresh and high-quality fruits and vegetables.

Negotiate Contracts: Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure the best deals for our company.

Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and manage orders to maintain an optimal stock of produce without overstocking or understocking.

Market Analysis: Keep abreast of market trends, seasonal availability, and pricing fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions.

Quality Control: Inspect produce deliveries for quality and freshness, and resolve any issues with suppliers promptly.

Budget Management: Work within the allocated budget to manage procurement costs effectively.

Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer preferences and demand patterns.

Sustainability: Promote and support sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience as a produce buyer or in a related role within the food industry.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of fresh fruit and vegetable varieties, seasonal availability, and quality standards.

Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Attention to Detail: Ability to inspect and evaluate the quality of produce.

Flexibility: Willingness to travel to meet with suppliers and attend industry events.

Education: A degree in Agriculture, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
