Open Until FilledPosition Information:Closely oversees day to day agriculture field operations and infrastructure maintenance, including but not limited to construction and maintenance of all structures, irrigation systems, pesticide applications, and roads. Supervises ongoing operations, plans, budgets and makes recommendations regarding future inventory and staffing needs. Trains and supervises staff to maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient operation. Responsible for performance management. Supervises land, labor, facilities and other resources for current and proposed research projects. Participates in safety training and ongoing reviews. Provides management and supervisory skills necessary to support the agricultural research and production agriculture on the experiment station, specifically in pest and weed management in vegetable, and forage crop areas.Requirements:Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent certification.

PreferredCollege degree in an agriculturally related field and one year of supervisory experience in farming operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PreferredExperience Requirements4 - 7 years of related experience.

RequiredForklift experience/certificate.

RequiredExperience and skill in a supervisory role, responsible for hiring, evaluating, directing, disciplining, and complaint resolution.

RequiredExperience and skill in the development and the maintenance of agricultural research plots.

RequiredExperience and knowledge of crop culture specifically relating to research plots and groves available for commercial harvest and non-crop areas.

RequiredPrevious supervisory/managerial experience.

PreferredExperience working in/with a research environment.

PreferredLicense RequirementsValid Drivers License

RequiredCertification RequirementsPossess a valid QAC.

RequiredMinimum RequirementsSkills to operate farming and specialized construction equipment. Working knowledge of chemical applications appropriate for irrigated pastures, right-of-ways, and rangelands.Interpersonal skills to effectively supervise, train, evaluate, and motivate others. Skills to evaluate issues and identify resolution.Communication skills; both verbally and in writing.Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, delegate work assignments, and evaluate results.Knowledge, ability and experience in pest management and fertilizer materials, their uses, equipment calibration, precision applications and implementing safety requirements for their use. Knowledge and experience of the importance of chemical residues in plot care.Ability to read, write and speak English effectively to communicate with peers, subordinates and researchers.Ability, experience and skill in the operation of specialized equipment used for tree crops, forage, vegetable and row crop practices.Knowledge and experience in keeping records and filing regulatory documents.
