The successful candidate must have a commitment to undergraduate teaching and will be expected to develop an active research program that involves undergraduates. The successful candidate will teach across the Geosciences curriculum, including introductory and core geosciences courses, as well as upper-level courses related to environmental geosciences. We seek research specialties that complement current expertise in the Earth and Environmental Geosciences Department; examples include but are not limited to expertise in environmental processes in terrestrial, critical zone, hydrological or marine settings, or in broader earth systems interactions. The use of geophysics, remote sensing, GIS, coding or other quantitative methods in research and teaching will be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who can also contribute to department and university core curricula (e.g., the First-Year Experience) and have experience with interdisciplinary instruction and/or global education.BACKGROUNDTrinity University is a secular, independent, private institution. Center for the Sciences and Innovation , has granted degrees for over 50 years and is a member of the Keck Geology Consortium. The Department of Earth and Environmental Geosciences is part of the D. R. Semmes School of Science that was recently endowed with a

to support students and faculty.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe candidate will:Teach a total of fifteen contact hours per academic year (equivalent to three courses in either the fall or spring semester, and two courses in the other) to support the curricular needs of the department and the Pathways general education curriculum;Engage in research and scholarly activities that result in quality publications and other intellectual contributions;Advise and mentor Trinity student majors as they pursue a degree in Earth and Environmental Geosciences;Involve Trinity students in Earth and Environmental Geosciences students in their research program;Engage in service to the department, the university, the profession, and the community.The ideal candidate will have:Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level;Evidence of effective scholarship in a research specialty related to environmental geosciences;Demonstrated commitment to the involvement of undergraduate students in the candidate's scholarship;Demonstrated commitment to Trinity's value of intentional inclusion.APPOINTMENT DETAILSThis position will be a 9-month appointment (9 or 12 month disbursement) starting August 2025, with a standard pre-tenure probationary period.EDUCATIONRequired:
