BMSS, LLC is looking for a client-focused individual who values cultivating relationships to join our Tax team. BMSS was established in Birmingham in 1991 and has grown to become a top 100 advisory and CPA firm in the U.S. We have four locations in Alabama (Hoover, Downtown Birmingham, Gadsden, Huntsville) as well as one in Mississippi (Ridgeland). We would prefer this candidate to be located near the Huntsville office but can be flexible.
Our services include tax planning, compliance and assurance, merger, and acquisition, advisory, wealth management, accounting services, payroll, and IT Support. BMSS strives to give all clients "peace of mind" and believes in exceptional client experience.
What you will be doing:
Manager level professionals conduct highly technical reviews on complex tax returns (corporate, individual, and partnerships) for our clients as well as research tax issues and provide recommendations to client specific issues. We are looking for someone with multi-state experience as well as experience in the Government Contracting realm. You will also be responsible for leadership of junior level staff on the engagement team, which could mean coaching and mentoring or hands-on training. Relationships are a critical cornerstone at BMSS, this role will be responsible for creating and cultivating relationships internally among the team and externally with the client.

What you will be doing:

Skills needed to be successful:
- Must have at least a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college/university.
- CPA strongly desired.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience preparing and reviewing complex business and/or personal tax returns, preferable with exposure to a variety of industries.
- Facilitating in-house continuing education and training of junior level staff.
- Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Desired:
- Prior experience in Government Contracting preferred
- MBA or MAcc is preferred but not required.
