Role Overview:
The Regional Sales Director - Midwest oversees and leads a team of Field Sales Account Managers within a designated geographic area of the United States, ensuring the successful execution of sales strategies, fostering client relationships, and achieving revenue targets. The successful candidate will manage a remote team of Field-Based Account Managers, contributing valuable insights on key performance indicators (KPIs), roles, responsibilities, and other essential metrics for success.
This position requires regular client engagements, both with existing and prospective clients, to assess evolving and ongoing needs. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional presentation skills, adeptness in addressing customer needs across various levels (from teachers and administrators to state influencers and other public sector officials), proven team leadership skills, fluency with data analysis, knowledge of a CRM, and route management tools, and a tangible track record of successful sales management.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Work with team leadership on the development and optimization of sales strategies for the Early Education and K-6 Public Sector Market.
Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of Account Managers, providing direction and support to achieve individual and collective goals.
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish team and individual market growth goals and metrics.
Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
Foster strong collaboration with Inside Sales, Customer Service, and other Support Teams, working in tandem to manage opportunities, deals, and orders effectively.
Sales Strategy and Execution:
Develop and implement regional sales strategies aligned with company objectives to drive revenue growth.
Collaborate with Account Managers to identify key accounts, create sales plans, and monitor progress toward targets.
Review and analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Coach team members on strategically planning and executing selling activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to optimize efforts.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring exceptional sales and service delivery.
Support Account Managers in addressing client inquiries, resolving issues, and negotiating contracts as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments such as Marketing, Product Development, and Operations to ensure alignment in strategies and execution.
Provide valuable insights and feedback from the field to contribute to the development of new products and services.
Drive brand awareness through strategic initiatives, ensuring the brand is positioned effectively in the Public Sector Market.
Reporting and Forecasting:
Prepare regular reports on regional sales performance, forecasts, and market trends for Senior Management.
Monitor and manage regional budgets, ensuring adherence to financial objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
Proven experience in Sales Management, preferably in the Educational Products/Services Industry (Early Childhood and/or Public Sector).
Strong leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and motivating teams to achieve targets.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and derive actionable insights.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute sales plans aligned with company goals.
Willingness to travel within the assigned region as needed - minimally to work with each supervised Account Manager in their territory twice a year and attend national sales meetings, trainings, and other conference events as required. Expect 40%-50% travel.
