Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Foundation, the Manager of Grants is responsible for overseeing the entire grants management process within the Foundation. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing grant programs to secure funding from various sources, including government agencies, foundations, and private donors.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The Manager of Grants plays a critical role in securing funding for Kern Medical programs and key initiatives. They must be skilled in grant writing and processing, financial reconciliation and management, and relationship building to effectively fulfill their responsibilities and help Kern Medical Foundation achieve its mission. The Manager of Grants typically works in an office environment but may also attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. This role may involve some travel, especially for site visits, grantor stewardship, and conferences.

Essential Functions:

Grant Strategy Development:

Develops and implements a comprehensive grant strategy aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.Identifies potential funding sources, including government grants, foundation grants, corporate grants, and individual donor funding.Grant Proposal Development:

Writes compelling and persuasive grant proposals, grant applications, and letters of inquiry.Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information and data for proposals.Ensures that proposals are submitted promptly and meet all requirements and deadlines.Grant Research:

Conducts research to identify new grant opportunities.Identifies and seeks opportunities for engagement with new organizations.Stays up-to-date with funding trends, grant guidelines, and regulations.Relationship Management:

Cultivates and maintains relationships with grantors, donors, and funding agencies.Attends meetings, conferences, and networking events to promote the organization's grant initiatives.Budget Management:

Develops project budgets in collaboration with program managers.Monitors and tracks grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements.Provides financial reports to grantors as required.Compliance and Reporting:

Ensures that the organization complies with all grant requirements and regulations.Prepares and submits regular progress reports to grantors.Manages grant reporting deadlines and requirements.Evaluation and Impact Assessment:

Assesses the effectiveness of grant programs in achieving the organization's goals.Uses data and metrics to evaluate the impact of grants on the organization's mission.Grant Database Management:

Maintains a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, applications, and outcomes.Uses technology to streamline the grant management process.Other duties

Supplemental:

Dependent upon assignment, applicants may be required to pass an extensive background investigation, and be fingerprinted. Disqualification for felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
