Demonstrates positive behavior and the ability to implement a plan of care. Duties require detailed knowledge of surgical instruments and prescribed procedures to provide Surgeons the appropriate sterile instruments and supplies throughout the course of surgery.

Vascular Technician

at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:Accurately completes assignments within scheduled time periods.Communicates pertinent patient information and actual or potential problems.Cooperates with reassignments in the interest of patient care.Demonstrates the ability to care for patients by providing safe, direct patient care.Assists with placing patients in prescribed body positions.Serves as scrub tech during procedures handling sterile instruments and supplies to the surgeon while maintaining aseptic technique.Assists the physician and anticipates his/her needs during the procedure.Keeps track of amounts of solutions used to irrigate surgical incision.Helps the RN with preparation for cases, gathering supplies, instruments and equipment.Correctly identifies blood, solutions, drugs, drainage tubes and appliances ordered.Performs other duties which may include room stock, workroom instrument processing, room cleaning etc.Verifies sponge, instrument and needle count with circulating nurses.Transports patients to the recovery room as needed.Exercises calm behavior and utilizes appropriate judgment during emergency situations.Participates in the improvement processes of quality patient care.Provides for effective and safe patient/customer outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions.Clinical practice accurately reflects Code of Ethics, the New Jersey Department of Health regulations and institutional policies and procedures.Adheres to current NJ Department of Health regulations, JCAHO and institutional policies and procedures.Follows HMH Guidelines of Cooperation and Discipline.Other duties and/or projects as assigned.Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.Experience in arterial duplex, ABI/PVR, carotid, venous, venous insufficiency, abdominal aorta and renal ultrasounds.Ability to perform general sonography.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:A minimum of two (2) years of vascular ultrasound experience.Licenses and Certifications Required:AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.ARDMS-RVT certification or eligible to obtain.If you feel that the above description speaks directly to your strengths and capabilities, then please apply today!
