The SAP Manufacturing Operations Architect is responsible for defining and then driving the implementation of the long-term strategic plans, working across the manufacturing business processes and beyond, helping the business shape their future using technology and information in ways of which they previously couldn’t even imagine possible.
The primary focus in this Solution Architect role will be focusing on the Manufacturing Operations functionality within SAP and overseeing the “Make” portfolio within the organization’s Plan/Buy/Make/Store/Distribute/Quality account management/delivery model. Having a deep understanding of the existing functionality and business processes supported the existing implementation, you will need to partner with the business to drive simplified future state design which maximizes the usefulness of the SAP asset in this continually growing business area. You will also need to understand the interactions with systems outside of the SAP landscape (MES, LES, etc.) to have end to end knowledge of the manufacturing landscape.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Utilize solid understanding of supply chain business processes to anticipate short term and future needs
Work with key Business Partners and other Tech@Lilly Architects to identify business problems, set direction through formation of a strategic roadmap, and then evolve the global design with appropriate solutions, which may span across many SAP modules and non-SAP systems, to meet business needs most effectively
Leverage deep understanding of how the Tech@Lilly tools are used by the business and how these tools interact to influence the business to think in new ways by providing design direction, including alternative options for meeting business outcomes
Work with business area leadership, Tech@Lilly Architects, Global Process Owners, and Enterprise Tech@Lilly architecture on cross-organizational issues. Act as interface between Tech@Lilly and Business Partners on or across large projects or programs
Work directly with Application Vendors such as SAP to understand and influence the vendor’s strategic direction for their product. Keep an outward focus to identify new trends and hence opportunities
Responsible for alignment of Business Architecture direction with other Tech@Lilly teams
Coach/ Mentor management, team, and others on business processes, technologies, and design as appropriate
Provide support for urgent and/or complex issues
Lead Integrated Services projects as part of Team Lilly
What You Should Bring:
Hands-on engineering experience with SAP modules such as MM
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams
Practical experience of SAP Supply Chain & Manufacturing
Good experience with system integration and interfacing is a plus
A high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation
Innovative spirit and ability to find new creative and quality ways to increase system effectiveness
Experience with architectural considerations for a global single SAP S4 instance
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related discipline
5+ years of experience in industry developing solutions in the SAP Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations space
3+ years' experience integration between SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems
Additional Qualifications:
ABAP Development / Debugging a positive
Any relevant SAP experience across SAP modules / bolt-ons
Experience with implementation of global projects within a complex SAP environment
Additional Information:
Hybrid role located in Indianapolis, IN - relocation required
