New York Life Real Estate Investors (NYL REI) is the dedicated real estate investment management division of New York Life Investments. We manage an extensive portfolio valued at over $65 billion, which encompasses real estate debt, equities, and securities. Our equity portfolio includes a diverse range of assets held within New York Life’s general account, separate accounts, an open-end core fund, closed-end value-add funds, and co-investments with REIT vehicles.Role Overview:We are currently seeking a Senior Associate Accounting Professional to oversee financial accounting and reporting for our equity real estate portfolio. This role demands a strong understanding of the real estate industry and exceptional technical skills to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.What You’ll Do:Financial Reporting:

Ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial information to internal management, external auditors, internal auditors, and clients.Valuation and Fees:

Review and maintain quarterly valuation changes; calculate asset management fees and net asset value as required.Reconciliation:

Handle reconciliation tasks between custodian banks and accounts, pricing, real estate reporting to clients, appraisal adjustments, and serve as the audit point person for assigned projects.Financial Requests:

Address and respond to specific financial inquiries from Real Estate Officers concerning investment performance and fund financial statements.Capital Call Management:

Review capital call and distribution calculations, sources and uses of funds, allocations, and investor notices.Procedures and Controls:

Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal control systems.Project Support:

Participate in other projects and analysis as requested by senior management.Process Improvement:

Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline cash management functions and enhance efficiency and accuracy.Industry Awareness:

Stay informed on industry best practices, regulations, and changes in accounting standards related to cash management processes.Collaboration:

Work with the accounting team to ensure proper coding and classification of expenses.Record Maintenance:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date cash team records, including vendor information, invoice details, and payment status in the cash system.What You’ll Bring:Undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field.3-7 years of accounting experience.Familiarity with fund-level, historical cost GAAP accounting, statutory accounting, and tax reporting is a plus.Experience with Yardi is preferred.Background in corporate accounting, consolidation, and SOX reporting.Ability to evaluate, document, and implement best-in-class policies and procedures.Experience in cash management and accounts payable.Pay TransparencySalary Range: $100,000 - $130,000Discretionary bonus eligible: YesActual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
