Banner – University Medical Center Tucson Oncology

The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson is a 12-month program for training residents with an interest in oncology, hematology, stem cell transplant, and investigational drug research. The program was established in 2016 and currently has one PGY2 oncology resident. This program is currently in accreditation candidate status by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Upon successful completion of the residency program, a certificate will be awarded to the resident by The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, The University of Arizona Cancer Center and Banner - University Medical Center Tucson.The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency provides a well-rounded experience in acute and ambulatory medical oncology, hematology, and stem cell transplant. The PGY2 oncology resident will be actively involved in the therapeutic decision-making process and clinical outcomes for cancer patients. In addition, the resident will gain experiences in teaching, precepting, clinical research and quality improvement. The residency is designed to instill a philosophy that denotes an oncology pharmacy practice model focusing on accountability for optimal drug therapy according to the pharmaceutical care model. The resident will also be prepared for board certification in oncology pharmacy upon completion of this residency.
