Led by Visa’s first Chief Data Officer, the Global Data Office coordinates high-impact, complex, company-wide projects related to data business strategy, critical investments, policy development, and marketplace execution. Working closely with Visa’s Chief Privacy Officer, the Technology organization, the wider data community, and the full set of Visa’s global lines of business, the Global Data Office is evolving Visa’s data-related work with momentum and enthusiasm. Potential work locations: Any US Visa office location, preferably Foster City office.

Flex Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

The Data Use Review Manager will help advance Responsible Data Use at Visa. The successful candidate will be a key member of Visa’s Data Policy team by facilitating the Data Use Case Assessment (DUCA) process through interacting with Data Users worldwide to comprehend the request and guarantee strong inputs are given to expedite the review process, as well as reinforce the data use inventory efforts.

This role provides a great opportunity to understand the way Visa uses data across all Regions and Business Units. The individual will work cross-functionally, collaborating globally with data users across multiple Visa teams including Visa Consulting and Analytics team, various client-facing teams, such as Business Development and Merchant Sales and Acquiring teams, product teams, regional hubs, and most extensively with other members of the Global Data Office and Global Privacy Office to operationalize Visa’s Data Values and data use guidelines throughout the organization.

Collaborate with Data Users and Data Stewards to attain sufficiently documented use case details to perform the Data Use Case Assessment review.

Conduct Data Use Case Assessment reviews by examining incoming Data Use requests and risk evaluating them against existing Data Use policies and rules.

Prepare formal assessments in Visa’s enterprise risk tool to document the risk of Data Use projects at Visa, educate and inform the broader DUCA team, and communicate effective feedback to Data Use owners. Must be able to manage low-complexity tickets end-to-end.

Execute operational activities related to ticket queue and priority management, including facilitation of regular review calls of the DUCA team as required.

Convey change management around the Data Use Policy interpretation by identifying gaps in existing guidelines and working with internal subject-matter experts to address them.

Contribute to workshops and projects on training of Visa staff on the Data Policy and Data values across the organization as required.

Contribute to content for the internal Global Data Office properties (website, SharePoint site, internal social media platform, etc.) and external Data @Visa pages.

Prepare materials as required to support the socialization of Data Use Policy development progress and DUCA feedback.

Participate in other ad-hoc Data Policy team projects as required by management.

Support Data Use Policy Change management efforts to ensure cross-pollination between DUCA process and Policy guidance.

Basic Qualifications

5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.

Relevant work experience in data science, data governance, data privacy or other similar roles, preferably in payments-related company: at least 4 years with Bachelor's degree or 2 years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 1 year with a PhD.

Knowledge of data analysis and manipulation tools and techniques, hands-on experience with SQL/Hadoop/PowerBI/Tableau or other similar skills.

Strong success track record of project and stakeholder management.

Familiarity with payment network data and processes is a plus.

Hands-on experience with AI tools is a plus.

Familiarity with key legislation principles (i.e., GDPR, CCPA) is a plus.

Business and Technical Skills:

Ability to interpret complex internal documentation, such as policies, standards, procedures, or execution guidelines, and explain in a clear and concise language to business partners.

Sufficient skillset and knowledge to be able to exercise competency in mathematics and statistics in the practical application of Visa’s Data Use policies and guidelines, while driving effective communication about the risk assessment rationale to Data Use requestors across the organization.

Capacity for out-of-the-box thinking to solve complex data-related problems and propose approaches that meet policy objectives.

Solid written, verbal, and presentation communications skills appropriate for a wide, global audience. Capable of summarizing complex issues into succinct messaging.

Strong business acumen and understanding of Visa and Client business models.

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY:

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 144,600.00 to 209,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
