Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic

Director, US Pricing and Contracting

to join our growing Market Access team. The Director will be responsible for shaping the development and execution of pricing and contracting strategies to support patient access to our medicines in the US. This will include progressing pricing and contracting concepts, driving recommendations through appropriate Agios governance, and collaborating with Payer Accounts Directors to identify payer contracting opportunities and implement value-adding concepts. In addition, the Director will help develop educational resources on Agios’ pricing philosophy and contracting concepts and templates.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, US Value, Access, and Pricing, the

Director, US Pricing and Contracting

will work closely with Market Access Colleagues (Payer, Patient Services), as well as US Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Legal, Accounting/Finance, and Global Strategy to ensure alignment. Solid strategy and execution skills, collaboration, communication, clinical understanding, and vendor management are essential for this role.

What you will do

Shape and implement US pricing strategy for each asset and indication in Agios’ portfolio and pipeline

Develop and assess traditional and innovative contracting concepts in support of US pricing strategy

Collaborate with Payer Account Directors to assess payer contracting opportunities and implement approved contracts

Identify opportunities in which contracting may enhance product value and access

Direct pricing and contracting recommendations through relevant Agios governance – i.e. pricing committee

Build and lead contracting operations function in support of payer contracting

Work with Legal and Accounting/Finance to review and adjudicate payer contracts

Lead / co-lead payer research and feedback forums with implications on pricing and contracting

In collaboration with the Global Commercial Strategy team, evaluate pricing expectations around BD / licensing candidates

Ensure field teams understand and can speak to Agios’ pricing philosophy

What you bring

Deep understanding of US market access environment, including payer landscape, role of PBMs and GPOs, medical and pharmacy coverage policies, and reimbursement

Knowledge of traditional and innovative contract pricing approaches

Baseline understanding of government contracting and reporting

Familiarity with pharmaceutical channel dynamics, including distribution and specialty pharmacy

Capability of translating pricing strategy into prospective payer contracting concepts and archetypes

Proficiency in building payer contract models

Capacity to build close relationships with Field Payer Team and key payer customers

Ability to create center of excellence around pricing and contracting strategy and operations

Able to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and communicate complex information clearly

Capable of fostering relationships, building alignment, negotiating and collaborating with home office and field teams

Ability to travel to meetings, conferences, market research, and advisory boards

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree (MBA) preferred and a minimum of 6-8 years market access experience

5+ years of direct pricing and contracting experience

Deep understanding of US market access environment, including payer landscape, coverage and reimbursement, and traditional and innovative pricing approaches

Experience contracting on Commercial and Government books of business – Medicare, Managed Medicaid, Fee for Service Medicaid

Exposure to pricing and contracting governance – pricing committee, deals committee

Experience implementing complex PBM and/or health plan rebate agreements

Product launch exposure

Rare genetic disease experience preferred

Location Agnostic:

Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. For employees who choose to work remotely, travel may be required for certain company events commensurate to the above job description.
