The RF Engineer works in conjunction with Mechanical, RF and Firmware engineering teams to design and develop next generation smart thermostats products, as well as supporting current products in the market. In this role, you will also perform skilled electrical/electronic design duties for RF enabled products with the use of applicable hardware tools/equipment under minimal engineering guidance.

Responsibilities

Work with cross functional team including electrical, mechanical, firmware and software engineering to develop product designs from concept to implementation.Decomposes system requirements into straightforward subsystem and/or electrical specifications and rudimentary designs.Design, test, optimize and validate RF circuits, translate requirements to PCB layout to optimize RF performance.Optimize RF designs for regulatory compliance.Research, design and develop wireless; AC, DC and battery powered thermostats and sensor devices.Design and schematic capture of digital and analog circuits (Altim, PADS preferred).Apply theoretical and hands-on electrical knowledge to identify problems and accomplish tasks.Estimates and monitors personal schedules and timelines.Defines development and production test plans and procedures.Supports manufacturing facility during prototype and production runs.Develop and execute test documentation for production validation at manufacturing facility.Collaborate with other engineers and departments to advance projects/tasks.Interface with external design partners and suppliers.Travels as needed both domestic and International.Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Consumer Electronics product design.Solid knowledge of circuit design techniques for wireless transmitters and receivers.Experience with sub-gig frequency, Z-wave or Zigbee products.Knowledge and experience implementing systems with wireless connectivity such as WiFi, BLE and similar.Schematic capture and layout design.Analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting related to electronic devices.Experience with microcontroller-based systems preferably ARM.Basic wired connectivity and communication with emphasis on UART, RS485, I2C, and SPI.Knowledge in the use of the laboratory tools: oscilloscope, DMM, variable DC power supply, etc.Knowledge in the use of the computer tools: schematic capture, board layout, simulation, etc.Demonstrates interactive verbal and written communication skills and leadership.Time management of several assignments having varying scope and complexity.Education

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
