The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position in our clinical psychology program. The position is funded through a SUNY Empire Innovation Program initiative for community prevention/intervention targeting transdiagnostic mental health problems in youth. We seek to recruit a clinical investigator developing, applying, and/or evaluating cutting-edge community-based prevention/intervention approaches for youth mental health problems.

Preference will be given to applicants who have a record of outstanding research, evidence of or potential for external funding, and can teach and mentor students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, including supervising graduate students in clinical practica at the department’s training clinic. We are particularly interested in a scholar whose work lends itself to novel collaborative initiatives within the department and/or across other departments/programs on campus (e.g., Psychiatry, Computer Science, Pediatrics, Public Health).

The Psychology Department at Stony Brook University encompasses doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Science, Integrative Neuroscience, and Social and Health Psychology. Faculty members in the area and department are highly collaborative, and have a history of productive collaborations with numerous other departments on campus. The clinical program places a strong emphasis on diversity, defined broadly, and we welcome applications from individuals who can contribute to that mission.

Required Qualifications

A PhD degree in Clinical Psychology or closely related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

A record of publication(s) relevant to intervention/prevention of youth mental health problems.

Evidence of, or potential for, funding.

Ability to teach and mentor students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, including supervising graduate students in clinical practica at the department’s training clinic.

Applicants must include a cover letter (1-page limit), CV, statements of research (past, current, and future directions) and teaching/supervision interests (your experience, future teaching interests, teaching and mentorship style) (max 1,000 words each), diversity statement (past, current, and future plans to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion [DEI]) (max 500 words), representative publications (limit 3), and 3 letters of recommendation.
